Before falling in love with a venue, you’ll want to make sure it’s available for your desired date.
Questions to ask:
Is our preferred date available?
How many weddings do you host per day or weekend?
Do you offer weekday weddings as well as weekend?
How far in advance can we book?
Is there a waitlist for popular dates?
How many hours are included in the rental?
Do you offer different packages, i.e a one day or a three day rental
Are there any time restrictions for when we can be at the venue on the day of the wedding?
What’s the latest we can stay?
Why it matters: Some venues host multiple weddings on the same day, which could limit your time or result in a less private experience.
Pricing and Packages
Venues often vary widely in pricing structures. Some are all-inclusive while others are strictly space-only rentals.
Questions to ask:
What is the total cost to rent the venue?
What’s included in the price (tables, chairs, linens, etc.)?
Are there different pricing tiers based on day of the week or season?
How much is the deposit to secure our date, and what are the terms?
What’s the payment schedule?
Are there any hidden fees (cleaning fees, overtime, security, staff, etc.)?
What is the cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Why it matters: Transparent pricing helps avoid financial surprises. Understanding what's included helps you budget for rentals and décor.
Guest Capacity and Space Details
Make sure the venue can comfortably accommodate your guest list and fits the flow you envision.
Questions to ask:
What is the maximum guest capacity (seated and standing)?
Are there separate areas for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception?
Which places can we have our ceremony? (inside and outside)
Is there a backup indoor space for bad weather (for outdoor venues)?
Can we rearrange or reconfigure the space?
Is there a dance floor, and how large is it?
Are there on-site dressing rooms or bridal/groom suites?

Why it matters: Real-life experiences can reveal what it’s really like to get married at that venue. A good tip is to post on a local Facebook wedding group (you can do this anonymously) and ask for past couple or supplier experiences.
