June Weddings Round Up

Wow what a beautiful month of weddings! I had one every Saturday, and I can tell you, it's a perfect way to spend the weekend! As always, they were all very different and I can't wait to share them with you...

Sarah and Chris

My first wedding of the month was at Court Farm in Somerset. I met Chris and Sarah at a wedding venue open day in Devon last year, and when they messaged me to say they had decided to get married in Somerset instead, I asked if I could be their celebrant. Well, of course I said yes!

The weekend fell on my husband's birthday so we decided that he could come with me and that we'd make a weekend of it! We stayed on a cute little farm. He dropped me off at the venue the night before to set up and have a run-through with everyone, and we enjoyed a nice meal out. On the wedding day, he went for a mooch round the charity shops in Frome whilst I performed their ceremony, and then the next day we went to Longleat Safari Park, which we loved!! The highlight was feeding the giraffes - so cool!

What they chose for their ceremony:

• Handfasting: I performed a triple knot handfasting ritual with macrame cords that Sarah made herself!

• They chose for me to have the rings, so I kept them in a little box on a table and gave them to them during the ring exchange.

• They are a very creative couple, both into music and playing instruments, and it was lovely to see that woven through their love story, which I read out to all their friends and family.

• Chris's best man played the guitar whilst guests were arriving, and it really set the tone for the ceremony. It was beautiful - I felt like I was in Italy!

• They both wrote their own vows, which were gorgeous and heartfelt.

Abbey and Ashley

This one was a lot of fun! Ashley is a farmer, so it took place at Holsome Park near Diptford, Totnes, close to where he farms. There were so many 'farmery touches' that I loved!

• We had a rehearsal at the venue a couple of weeks before so that we could have a run through of the ceremony, as well as practice the music cues with their family member who was going to be pressing the button! It was really nice to meet their family before the big day.

• On their wedding day, I went to see Abbey first as she was getting ready at her mum's house, which was only about 15 minutes away from the venue. I had a chat with her bridal party and let them know which order they would be walking down the aisle in.

• All the guests, and I included, were taken down to the field in a tractor with a huge trailer on the back!

• They had over 100 guests, and they were all very excited and responded so well to their love story, laughing away in all the right places!

• Abbey's mum and Ashley's mum both read a poem during the ceremony, which was lovely.

• We all had a sing-along to 'Love is All Around' by Wet Wet Wet, which was a hoot!

• They did the Sand Ceremony with their two young daughters, which was very cute, and their mums came up to sign the Wedding Certificate with them.

• They both spoke their own vows.

Ness and Lee

Ness and Lee tied the knot at Anran in Devon. They decided to have their wedding ceremony in the gorgeous Plant House, come rain or shine! As you enter the space, you see a pond with koi carp, and you are surrounded by palms and other beautiful plants and flowers. It felt very exotic and tropical! They only booked me three months before their wedding day, so it was all go, writing their ceremony script, I managed to do it with plenty of time to spare.

• We had a ceremony rehearsal there two days before, and it was a great opportunity to see the ceremony space and how everything was going to work. There was only one central aisle, and with the pond in the middle, we had a practice run for how Ness was going to walk down the aisle with her mum. Lee's best man also attended, so that was handy as I could go through his roles with him too.

• On the wedding day, I got there nice and early as usual and went to see Ness whilst she was having her hair and make-up done. She was very chilled out, and there didn't seem to be any nerves at all. Just pure excitement at the thought of marrying her best friend!

• They had over 120 guests, and the vibes were high! I really enjoyed telling them all about Ness and Lee's love story and all the things they're looking forward to in their future together.

• They had a friend and Lee's auntie each read a poem and Lee's best man was their ring bearer.

• They both wrote their own vows which were so lovely to hear.

Riah and Brannon

Riah and Brannon got married at Trematon Hall in Saltash, Cornwall. They booked me last year, so after months of planning, it was great to have the day finally arrive!

• We had their wedding ceremony outside in front of the house, which was stunning.

• They had 40 guests, so it was a lovely, intimate affair.

• They signed the Wedding Certificate and performed the Wine Box Time Capsule, but.... with Pepsi Max instead, so we renamed it the Pepsi Max Time Capsule! They wrote love notes to each other the morning of the wedding and put them inside a personalised wooden box during the ceremony with a bottle each of Pepsi Max, which they will open on their first wedding anniversary, drink their drink and read their love notes to each other. They will then put a new bottle and a new love note in and repeat it every year - cute!

• They had a reading by a family member, which was really quite emotional!

• They said their own vows to each other.

• They had an amazing string quartet, which was a gift to her dad, whose birthday it was - you bet we sang Happy Birthday to him!
